Mechanic Services
We are a one stop shop for all your vehicle's mechanical needs. We are able to diagnose why your check engine light has come on to entire engine rebuilds!
Oil Changes
An oil change fundamentally is comprised of three main steps:
- Draining used engine oil from your vehicle. This oil contains microscopic impurities as a result of lubricating the moving parts
- Replacing your engine oil filter
- Replinishing your engine with clean engine oil based on your vehicle type
An Engine oil change is one of the most cost effective maintenance items for your car. Periodic oil changes can cost you anywhere between $200 to $300 over a period of year. It will leave your engine running smoother, well lubricated and cooler. This is in-addition to our mechanics doing a visual inspection when you come in for one. In the event that this basic maintenance is ignored, you could end up with Engine repairs costing you over $3000. Regular maintenance means your vehicle will last you longer and protected against engine troubles.
Studies have shown that a car with regular oil changes leads to higher fuel economy since the engine runs cooler and more efficiently with clean engine oil. Contaminants lead to blockages and your engine needing to work harder for the same amount of output power.
Brakes
Brakes are the fundamental components that help you stop your vehicle. Maintaining this periodically should never be an option but a mandatory service you should ideally undergo every time you swap your tires (Summer -> Winter and Winter -> Summer). At the very least, this should be done at least once a year. Due to the harsh winter conditions on our roads, a lot of salt is added to help with friction. This leads to significant corrosion of the breaking systems and could lead to your brake calipers seizing.
Some symptoms of your brake systems needing a service are as follows:
- Hearing a squealing or grinding noise when you apply your brakes
- Pulsing or Wobbling on your steering wheel when you apply your brakes
- Needing to compress your brake pedal significantly more than what you are used to
Transmission Repair
For automatic transmission vehicles. Having your transmission service is significantly important to prevent a major repair in your vehicle ownership experience. Similar to Engine oil changes, the benefits of transmission service is quite important where typically the fluid is drained out and refilled. The fluid breaks down over time as it gets clogged with impurities of the transmission components - causing it to perform sub-optimally.
- If your daily driving includes hilly terrain and/or significant intervals of towing - this too adds additional stress on your transmission systems and you should consider an inspection at least one every 50,000 km.
- The worst case symptom of a transmission issue is that your vehicle's transmission will get so hot that your vehicle will shut-down due to over-heating.
- However, more subtle signs are when you notice rough shifting as your transmission goes to higher/lower gears
Exhaust System
The fundamental purpose of the exhaust system of your vehicle is to vent gases produced within your engine to the atmosphere. The major components of this system are:
- The exhaust pipe - guide way for the flow of gases from the engine compartment to the atmosphere
- The catalytic convertor - converts toxic gases into carbon-dioxide, nitrogen and water vapour
- The muffler - muffles the exhaust noise
The common symptoms of poorly performing exhaust systems could be:
- Louder than normal exhaust noise from the muffler
- Increase in fuel consumption
- More obviously --- the check engine lamp
Our inspection involves a quick visual check on any dangling exhaust tubing or loose bolts as a result of vibrations from driving. We will only diagnose and recommend what needs your immediate attention for safety and will not upsell an unneeded service or replacement.
